Village Halloween Parade
It was a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon when Ted Roth and I got off the C train in SoHo. We proceeded to walk toward the starting point of the parade, taking some practice shot along the way, tempted by the wonderful light. When we arrived various groups were already in the staging area, preparing for the event. Night pictures during the parade would be difficult, so we began shooting early.

When we arrived the cops were already there, in the hundreds. I couldn't help but think that there was excessive manpower and lots of overtime in the making.
The staging area was bustling with models, performers, participants and dozens of photographers, a large number of whom were drawn to the body painting area.
Later that evening, it was warm...

Sorry I missed out on the fun. I was hoping to finally get the chance to meet, but I'm glad to hear you two had a good time at the parade. Nippy out yesterday huh? Anyway, I'm looking forward to joining the two of you next year!!
Next year we wear costumes. No more standing on the sidelines watching the world go by!
Costumes? And what, I ask, do you propose to be? Of all your shots, the snakes is my favorite, and your shots of the Richard Simmons workout class and of the ghosts in "Haunted Canyon," are far better than any I got. Now about next year and those costumes....
It was a lot of fun. I think this year I was in the photographer costume and next year I might be a body painter ;-)
Well, you have a little under a year to start honing and brushing up on your skills as a body painter. That's not a costume you just slip into ya know, practice, practice, practice. ;-)
Seriously Diane, you have to join us next year so that Ted won't be the only one getting those artistic close up shot...and we should all be in costumes.
"The Drummer" is an excellent addition! Made me laugh....and laugh!!
Thanks for your obscure comment about my obscure photo titled "Obscurity 2". ;-)
Great bit of detective work Inspector LeJeune. Yes indeed, that photo was taken in or around Chinatown on our last trip to NYC. Bravo!
