This is a photographic record of walks I have taken in the five boroughs -- posted in rough chronological order.

I'll skip around from borough to borough as the mood strikes me. I'll add captions and occasionally a brief
commentary but, for the most part, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves

June 24

On the way back from Staten Island, walking north from South Ferry, I did take this that pleased me.

Somewhere south of Canal Street.

Ooooh, cool shot!

Just curious, were you able to take this photo handheld or with a tripod?

Hi Diane,

I don't own a tripod and probably never will. I like to walk long light...and find targets of opportunity. Consequently my photos will never attain the definition that I see and envy in those of others.

I think it turned out great without a tripod. Love the feeling of negative space, it's a little like a piece from a puzzle or like looking thru a keyhole.

I know what you mean about carrying a tripod. I resisted it for quite awhile and for the most part I like the spontaneity of shooting without it. (especially in the city!) Actually, I just purchased my first real tripod for my new camera, and of course it's MUCH heavier than my old one. Ugh!

I think you should do what makes you feel most comfortable.
